Sinopec orders Havyard-designed PSV

Sinopec orders Havyard-designed PSV
Chinese oil firm Sinopec has approached Fujien Mawei Shipbuilding to construct a Havyard-designed PSV.

The 3,900-dwt, Havyard 832 L SE offshore vessel is slated to be delivered from the Chinese shipyard in March 2016. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal marks the third in a row that Sinopec has chosen to use Havyard design. Sinopec had earlier constructed a Havyard 843 AHTS vessel delivered in 2012 and a Havyard 832 PSV, scheduled to be delivered from Fujien Mawi in February 2015.

“We have established a good foothold in in China, which is important for future growth and development of our design and equipment package deliveries,” said Gisle Vinjevoll Thrane, senior vice president sales in Havyard.

“China has the biggest shipbuilding capacity in the world and ambitions to continue to increase their market shares,” Thrane continued. “Additionally, we see that Chinese shipowners are building more advanced offshore vessels.”
