Qingdao: Strong winds and torrential rains heading in from across the Yellow Sea have shut down Qingdao port today. Port authorities are confident that the bad weather will have passed by Wednesday. Qingdao port rarely closes its port due to bad weather unlike many of its compatriot ports further south which are increasingly hit by typhoons.
Separately, meteorologists are keeping a firm eye on the gathering Tropical Storm Etau hovering off the east coast of Osaka and heading northeast further out into the Pacific. [11/08/09]
