Transit port for landlocked Laos to be built in central Vietnam

Hanoi: A transit port reserved for Laos commodities will be built at the Vung Ang Port in the central Vietnamese province of Ha Tinh .
The project will have a total investment of US$200 million with the Vietnamese side contributing 80 per cent and the Lao side, 20 per cent.
The project is expected to be carried out in the first quarter of next year.
Lao exporters already have a decent Vietnamese port in Binh Dinh province that they use to move their goods worldwide.
Quy Nhon Port is a gateway for sources of cargo from southern Laos (via Bo Y Border Gate in Kon Tum Province) and northeastern Cambodia (via Duc Co Border Gate in Gia Lai Province), and Quy Nhon plans to turn itself into part of the East-West Economic Corridor which runs from central Vietnam to Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.
