Seychelles: UAE-owned bulker, Orna, was hijacked in the Indian Ocean on Monday.
The Panama-flagged, 27,915 dwt, Orna, was 400nm northeast of the Seychelles when it was attacked by at least two skiffs manned by pirates firing small arms and rocket propelled grenades, according to EU Navfor.
"The vessel was stopped and boarded by at least 4 pirates. The crew is co-operating and no damage is reported," EU Navfor said. The number of crew onboard the vessel is unknown. [21/12/10]
