Brisbane: Australia's Brisbane port has reopened for shipping in the Fisherman Island precinct, and all the berths are expected to be reopened by Wednesday. Brisbane has seen nine vessels calling at the port and the remaining berths up to the Gateway Bridge will be opened to commercial traffic by tomorrow, the local port authority said. "Berths located upstream of the Gateway including the Qld Bulk Terminal, Brisbane Cruise Terminal, Forgacs, and the Hamilton and Maritime berths require further survey work and debris removal before they can be reopened," the Port of Brisbane said in a statement. The survey work and debris removal remain difficult tasks due to the strong currents, it added. [18/01/11]
