Port Klang: Westports Malaysia hit 3m teu in container throughput last Friday, becoming the first port in Port Klang to hit the mark, and only the second port in the country to achieve this milestone. It also means the port is well on the way achieve its 3.7m teu mark this year. In a statement last Friday, Westports said it was also expected to record the highest volume for a single month this year, with an anticipated 345,000 teu for October. Westports scored a 2.91m teu throughtput last year. Westports is earmarked to be a 5m teu port by 2010. CMA CGM and China Shipping are the port's two main customers, the latter of which is likely to invest in the facility soon. [31/10/06]
