The five energy-efficient hybrid fuel newbuildings comprised of three 5,000 dwt units and two 1,600 units.
The shipyard claimed that the environmentally-friendly design of the newbuildings would allow a 20% reduction in fuel consumption compared to a conventional vessel of similar capacity.
The dual-fuel newbuildings would be deployed in China's Guangxi river, but delivery schedule was not specified.
Xijiang Shipbuilding said it has been actively promoting the sale of such LNG-diesel vessels for operations in Guangxi river in an attempt to curb air pollution from domestic seaborne transportation.
