Yiu Lian to open largest ship repair yard in China

Shanghai: Yiu Lian Dockyard is to launch a new 700,000 m² purpose-built repair facility on Manzhou Island - billed as the largest shiprepair facility in China - in July 2007, according to the Ship Repair Newsletter. Located in the Pearl River delta, the facility will offer two 300,000 dwt capacity graving docks, two floating docks of 80,000 dwt and 40,000 dwt capacity as well as 3,010 m of repair berths. The two floating docks presently at Yiu Lian's current Shekou facility, of 25,000 tonne lift and 12,000 tonne lift, will be towed to the new yard next year.  [17/11/06]
