Taipei: Yang Ming Line is to enhance one of its transpacific loops from April 15, in addition to launching a new route in April, reports the AXSLiner weekly newsletter. These moves mean that the container liner will be adding approximately 4,000teu per week to the FE-WCNA trade, to meet the anticipated increase in demand during the transpacific season.
YML's existing PNW service will now include direct calls at Busan and Vancouver in addition to the ports of Tacoma, Vancouver and Portland. The five 1,803teu currently serving the route will be replaced by a similar number of 3,700-4,300teu vessels. The smaller vessels will be deployed on a new 'PS-5' weekly loop, which will connect North China, Korea and California. COSCO, K Line and Hanjin, who partner YML in the CKYH alliance have yet to confirm their involvement in the new route.
The 'PS-5' will follow the port rotation: Lianyungang - Qingdao - Xingang - Busan - Oakland - Los Angeles. [27/03/07]
