Ever Given and the Suez Canal

Suez Canal Authority video of Ever Given salvage operations

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has released video (above) of the ongoing salvage operation for the containership Ever Given blocking the key waterway between Asia and Europe.

Attempts to refloat the Ever Given, which grounded last Tuesday blocking the Suez Canal, are continuing and a specialist tug ALP Guard arrived on Sunday to assist 11 tugs already onsite.

According to the Ever Given’s managers, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, an additional dredger, the THSD Causeway, is expected to arrive on 30 March.

As hundreds of vessels remain queued unable to transit the canal container lines are rerouting a growing number of Asia – Europe and Asia – US East Coast services via the Cape of Good Hope adding around 9 – 10 days to a transit between Asia and Europe.
