RCL, which is branding the service as RWA, said it would be operated by five 2,800 teu vessels on a 35-day rotation. The Thai-owned line is providing two vessels for the service, while PIL, CULines, and InterAsia will each provide one.
The service rotation will be Nansha – Shekou – Singapore – Westport – Northport - Nhava Sheva – Mundra – Westport – Haiphong – Nansha.
The first voyage is expected to start from Nansha on 22 October with the RCL vessel Satha Bhum.
A RCL spokesperson commented, “The new RWA will provide our customers in South China via Nansha and Shekou direct connectivity to Nhava Sheva and Mundra. With a transit time of 14 and 15 days respectively to Nhava Sheva, this new service will offer some of the industry’s fastest transit times.
“RWA will also be the only direct connection between Haiphong and Nhava Sheva, Mundra. Similarly, customers ex India will also enjoy a direct sailing to Haiphong; a key destination for Indian exports.”
