The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) announced that Maersk’s AE12 and AE7 shipping services now call at Jeddah Islamic Port.

Maersk confirmed that AE7 first called Jeddah on June 8, and AE12 first called Jeddah on June 2, 2023.

AE7 has an 18,000 teu capacity with 12 vessels and calls 15 ports: Ningbo-Zhoushan, Shanghai, Nansha, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Colombo, Tangier, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Felixstowe, London Gateway, Salalah, Khalifa, and Jebel Ali.

AE12 has a 12-strong fleet of vessels and a 15,000 teu capacity, calling 13 ports across Southern Europe, Africa, and East Asia through a fleet of 12 ships offering a 15,000-TEU capacity.

Mawani said the additional calls reflected its commitment to drive impactful collaborations with strategic partners like Maersk that aspire to boost Saudi Arabia’s standing in international indices, such as the UNCTAD’s Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (LSCI), as per the vision set forth by the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS).
