Gina Panayiotou appointed UK Seatrade Maritime Club Ambassador

Gina Panayiotou, ESG Manager at West of England P&I Club, is the latest Ambassador to join the Seatrade Maritime Club.

Panayiotou will represent the UK and joins ambassadors from Greece, Cyprus, the UAE, Qatar, Singapore, the Americas and Isle of Man who are helping pave the way for the global club to grow geographically and fulfil its objective to bring together senior management from the ship-owning community eager to tackle the challenges facing the industry and proactively drive positive change.

Commenting on the appointment, Emma Howell, Director, Seatrade Maritime said: “We could not be more delighted to have Gina on board with us.  Now based in London, Gina is one of the “Top Maritime Influencers you should follow” voted by Marine Traffic; has been shortlisted for the Inspirational Influencer Awards in the Global Impact category for her work on youth and female empowerment; been ranked by Legal 500, GC Powerlist Greece and Cyprus as one of the Top 100 in-house counsel driving innovation within their sector, amongst a wealth of other accolades.”

With a Masters in Maritime Law and an MBA on sustainable business, Gina leads West’s Environmental, Social & Governance Strategy across all offices. She has also acted as a Communications Consultant of the IMO-UNEP-Norway Innovation Forum and is the UK Chair of the G100 Network Sustainable Brand Creation & Marketing; the Secretary of WISTA UK and represents the UK on the WISTA International Environment Committee; sits on BIMCO’s ESG Network while she also supports the World Ocean Council as an associate on Law & Ocean Sustainable Development and is an Associate Tutor at MLA College.

Asked about her new role at the Seatrade Maritime Club, Gina commented: “This is very exciting and I believe that what I bring to the table is a commercial understanding of the industry and how it can embrace ESG as an opportunity. It is important we add this to the international agenda, to make the industry more resilient and sustainable.”

The next planned meeting for the Ambassadors is at Seatrade Maritime Logistics Middle East which takes place at DWTC, Dubai, UAE from 16-18 May 2023.
