Face to face with the future

Shipping, like the world itself, stands at a crossroads. As an industry, we have to choose a path that leads to a sustainable future, where commercial and environmental goals go hand in hand.

But to do that we need new solutions, partnerships and expertise. Or, as  Nor-Shipping Director Sidsel Norvik argues, we need one another.

Shipping is a people business. Always has been, always will be.

The assets carry the loads, the energy drives us forward, the infrastructure enables success… but it’s the individuals that do the deals, form the partnerships and conceive the innovations that allow us to continually stand at the vanguard of world trade.

Without one another we are nothing.

That’s why it feels so good to engage again.

And I’m not talking about over Zoom, Teams, or any other virtual meeting app, I’m talking about face to face.

To really form bonds, understand new solutions, gain mutual trust, and define strategies there is simply no substitute for physical meetings.

And, with a pressing need to transform our industry – doing our part to meet environmental goals and serve society – there has never been a more crucial time to meet. Only together can we tackle the challenges, and unlock the opportunities, ahead.

That’s why I believe that this Nor-Shipping, taking place 10-13 January 2022, is arguably the most important ever.

Reengage, reboot, revitalise

Nor-Shipping 2022 will be the first major exhibition to gather the complete spectrum of ocean industry and maritime stakeholders in a single place since the start of the pandemic. Coming on the back of COP26, where the world will try and agree the measures needed to avert climate catastrophe, it delivers the perfect stage to reengage, reboot and revitalise our industry with the energy needed to transform.

Thankfully, Norway has now lifted its national coronavirus restrictions. This means we’re free to run a “normal” Nor-Shipping and welcome the world back to our unique exhibition space in Lillestrøm, not to mention social and knowledge sharing events across nearby Oslo. Expect some 900 companies, from around 60 countries, showcasing the very latest innovations, services and expertise, with close to 50,000 gathered international decision makers.

This is an event week alive with opportunity.

Gathering potential

So, the clock is ticking… and we await the people that count, namely you.

Nor-Shipping 2022 will be the place where all the ideas, ambitions and energy that have been pent up in our community can be released – with meetings, debates, networking and more, connections can be formed, often spontaneous ones, that could never be created when we’re chained to our screens.

This is the industry’s arena for future success. And we want you to be there.
