The Marvel Heron was christened on Friday at the Koyagi Plant of MHI's Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works and Mitsui representative director and executive managing officer Yoshio Kometani proclaimed the formal christening, while Mrs. Kometani performed the ceremonial rope cut.
The 177,000 cu m vessel is equipped with apple-shaped tanks refined from MOSS-type spherical tanks. Sistership Marvel Crane was delivered to Mitsui on 28 March and is now in service.
Both LNG carriers are named after migratory birds.
