Statistics from Shanghai International Port (Group) Co showed the Chinese port registering 2.92m teu of container throughput last month, an increase of 11.4% compared to 2.62m teu in January 2012.
Shanghai retained its crown as the world's number one container port with a total throughput of 32.53m teu in 2012.
