China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL) has acquired two drilling contracts from Norwegian companies, Var Energi and Equinor.

Var Energi has awarded COSL Drilling Europe a two-year contract for drilling in the Barents Sea with the COSL Prospector.

COSL Drilling Europe will be utilising its modern, 6th generation Harsh Environment Semi-Submersible drilling unit, the COSL Prospector for this contract.

The agreement has a firm duration of two years, commencing third quarter of 2024 with three years of options included, with a maximum duration of five years.

Meanwhile, another Norway-based company Equinor renews the trust and has awarded COSL Drilling Europe new contracts in the North Sea. COSL Innovator and the COSL Promoter will be used for planned exploration and production drilling on the NCS.

The contract with COSL Innovator has a firm duration of two years, and up to five years, including options. Operations will commence in the second quarter of 2025.
