Helweg, who has been responsible for POML’s global operations for the last three years, takes over from Kofod-Olsen, who had been appointed ceo after P&O Maritime was merged with Topaz Energy and Marine, which he had previously helmed.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman and ceo of parent company DP World, said: “I am confident that Martin will lead P&O Maritime Logistics into the next stage of growth as part of DP World, strengthening the P&O brand which has more than 180 years of maritime history. P&O Maritime Logistics will continue to innovate to offer our customers a wide portfolio of services.
“I would like to thank Rene Kofod-Olsen for his contribution to DP World during the transition of Topaz Energy and Marine into P&O Maritime Logistics, and wish him well for the future.”
On his new appointment Helweg, said: “P&O Maritime Logistics is uniquely positioned in the maritime logistics industry to reshape the market. DP World affords us global reach and strength and allows increased investments in the fleet and in technology and innovation.
“We will leverage these strengths, and our organization’s core capabilities and maritime legacy to change this industry and deliver maximum value to our stakeholders.”
