Brazil’s Portonave celebrates 10m teu milestone

The Port of Navegantes (Portonave) reached the 10m teu milestone with the arrival a Hapag-Lloyd vessel sailing from the Mediterranean.

Portonave is the second largest container port in Brazil and Amidst the challenging scenario caused by the pandemic has exceeded the expectations of the port sector with significant records in recent months. In 2021 it reported 29% growth, the highest in the port's history.

The terminal handles cargo exports, such as wood, animal protein, furniture, and ceramic products. In imports, it includes cargo of beverages, plastics, chemical products, rubber and its derivatives.

Growth In 2021 in the import segment was substantial with 38.6%, and in the reefer container export with 18.8%

A comparison of January 2022 with the same period last year shows the expansion of operations, being dry exports (+33.4%), reefer exports (+50%), in dry imports (+26.9%) and reefer imports (+39.3%).

Located in the city of Navegantes, Santa Catarina state, Portonave started operating in October 2007, as Brazil’s first private port terminal.
