Montecon at the Port of Montevideo, Uruguay has placed an order with Liebherr Container Cranes for two large electric rubber tyre gantry (RTG) cranes.

The cranes are the first Liebherr RTGs in Uruguay and will be delivered to the port in early 2021.

The RTGs Stack ten containers and a truck lane wide and one over six containers high for maximising space utilisation as the port optimises an RTG operation that includes reefer handling.

“Liebherr are pleased to sell our first two ERTGs to Uruguay. Montecon were impressed with the technological solution presented by Liebherr,” said Liebherr’s area sales manager for the Americas, Ray Cronin.

“The inherent value found in the Liebherr design including Liebherr’s eight-rope reeving, simultaneous drive motion and the stiff and lightweight design provided an exceptional foundation on which to build these modern, safe and environmentally friendly machines.”
