Svitzer, the global towage operator and part of Maersk, has announced a five-year extension of their marine service contract with NuStar.

NuStar one of the largest liquid terminals and pipeline operators in North America and Svitzer has been delivering towage services to the company in Point Tupper since 2010. The extension, that comes into effect on 1 August 2020, supports NuStar’s Point Tupper Oil Storage facility with three tugs on time charter, performing berthing and unberthing for calling tankers and safety standby services at the terminal.

“NuStar takes pride in being an industry leader in safety performance, environmental stewardship, operational excellence, and community service, so we are very pleased to continue our partnership with Svitzer because they share those same corporate values,” said NuStar Point Tupper Terminal, Blaise MacDonnell.

“They are an outstanding business partner with a proven commitment to safety and environmental excellence, exceptional customer service and giving back to those in need, and we look forward to building on our relationship with them,” added MacDonnell.

“We are proud of the strong relationship we have with NuStar and we are happy that they have chosen us to continue on as their marine services partner for the next five years,” commented Switzer Americas managing director Arjen Van Dijk.

“At Svitzer, we are continuously looking to stabilise and expand our operations in Eastern Canada. We are committed to supporting our customers and determined to grow our business in the region over the coming years. Our strategy for the Americas is to pursue further growth within a careful selection of projects and ports that fit our portfolio and capabilities well, and where our multi-local presence will make us a more efficient and reliable partner to our customers.”
