The port of Yantian is planning to build three new berths capable of handling mega-containerships.

The terminal project at east port operation area of Yantian port will include three 200,000 tonnes-class container berths, with an annual design capacity of 3m teu, a cross-sea channel, container yard and supporting facilities.

The new container terminal project sees Yantian aiming to become a world-class smart green port.

Yantian port has three operation areas, with the east being the third while the west and central port areas are already in full operation.

Currently, the port has over 20 container berths, and is major load centre for South China. It’s importance in the global supply was emphasized by the impact of a three-week shutdown earlier this year due to a Covid outbreak.
