KNS: new MK3 antenna "Combat Ready"

KNS, Inc., a market leader in design, manufacture and integration of marine communication systems, has just announced that their new SuperTrack Z10MK3 antenna has passed MIL-S-901D, a military standard test at the highest level.

The MIL-S-901D specification covers shock testing requirements for ship board machinery, equipment, systems, and structures. The purpose of this test is to verify the ability of shipboard installations to withstand shock loadings which may incur during wartime service due to the effects of nuclear or conventional weapons.

Director of KNS, Inc. Noah Chung commented, “Our R&D is improving year on year, and the team at KNS was very excited to pass this accreditation at Grade ‘A’ level.  This confirms the MK3 Antenna can be deployed in a combat environment where operation is essential to the safety of the ship.  Chung continues by saying, “This whole process took many months to achieve and we look forward to working with many governments across the world to support their military ships”.

The other parameters that the MK3 Antenna was tested included:

Medium Weight

A test was performed on the medium weight shock machine. The weight of the test item including the fixture to attach it to the test machine was less than 7,400 pounds.

Class I: It meets shock requirements without the use of resilient mountings installed between the equipment and the ship structure or foundation.

Class II: It meets shock requirements with the use of resilient mountings installed between the equipment and the ship structure or shipboard foundation.

The antenna was tested in two positions:  vertical and inclined.

KNS takes pride in all their products and continues to advance in marine communications to support their customers to the highest level.  It is this level of commitment that has enabled KNS to become a worldwide leader in the VSAT antenna arena.
