Bomin said customers will be served from the Houston hub in the US from January 2017 after the closure of the Rio de Janeiro office. The company will also plug the gap from its business ceasure in Estonia and Spain with its Hamburg hub in Germany.
Last month, Bomin also shut down its trading offices in Greece’s Athens and UK’s London.
Bomin pointed out that the closure of the various offices would allow the group to focus on strengthening its regional hubs at four main locations – Hamburg, Houstin, Dubai and Singapore.
Thomas Roller, managing director of Bomin, said: “Strengthening our regional hub structure enables closer customer relationships. It allows us to better support our customers by providing universal quality and service standards in every physical supply and trading operation worldwide.
“Shipowners need a solution-driven approach to fuel supply. The changes we have made will ensure that Bomin is well prepared to master the challenges of the upcoming IMO regulations in 2020,” he said.
The IMO will enforce a global 0.5% fuel sulphur content cap starting 2020, further lowering from the current cap of 3.5%.
