Captain Alexandra Hagerty is the 12th ambassador of Seatrade Maritime Club
Captain Alexandra Hagerty is the latest Ambassador to be appointed of the global Seatrade Maritime Club – having already experienced a distinguished career to date in which she has served as the Master of the Hospital Ship Africa Mercy and worked aboard various government and commercial vessels for 13 years.

Her contributions extend beyond her commanding roles, as she is also an accomplished writer and panellist, actively engaging in discussions on international maritime affairs and technology.

Commenting on her appointment, Emma Howell, Director Seatrade Maritime – part of the Informa Markets Maritime portfolio, said: “Capt Hagerty is an excellent addition to our Ambassadors and will primarily focus on California where a large number of maritime technology and innovation businesses are based.

In her role, she will help progress the Club’s objectives to bring together members to network and proactively drive positive economic growth for their respective regions and the global industry.”

Capt Hagerty - a Fellow of the Nautical Institute UK and the Founder of the charity 'Captains Without Borders' - is deeply committed to providing scholarships to maritime cadets from underprivileged backgrounds and was Vice President of International Relations at the Council of American Master Mariners (CAMM).

Captain Hagerty advocates for sustainable shipping policies and the welfare of seafarers globally and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at MIT with a focus on sustainability. She is also a recipient of the Forte Foundation Leadership Scholarship, highlighting her dedication to leadership and academic excellence; as well as a member of the Boston Marine Society and Marine Society of New York.

As a private membership club, specially invited members can connect with one another through strategic networking opportunities, closed-door leadership roundtables and specially curated content. Together, the Ambassadors will work with members to tackle the challenges facing the industry, stimulate innovation and proactively drive positive change across the industry.

Established in 2020, Seatrade Maritime Club pulls on over 50 years of heritage from within the Seatrade brand and works closely in tandem with Seatrade Maritime Events, Seatrade Maritime News and the wider Informa Markets Maritime portfolio.
