A joint venture comprising NYK, Mitsubishi, SBM Offshore and Queiroz Galvão Óleo e Gás has signed with the Petrobras led BM-S-11 consortium to charter and operate two FPSOs offshore Brazil for 20 years. The joint venture already has one FPSO in operation Brazil the Cidade de Paraty, which started production on 6 June.
The FPSO Cidade de Maricá and FPSO Cidade de Saquarema additional FPSOs are being converted from VLCCs in a yard in Guangzhou with topside integration to be done in Brazil. Oil production is scheduled to start in the final quarter of 2015 and the first quarter of 2016.
“Through its participation in these FPSO projects, NYK will continue its efforts to expand and develop its business through the utilisation of the company’s specialized skills in the offshore oil and gas industry,” NYK said.
