The Chinese shipyard is cooperating with Brasil Basin Drydock Company (BBDC) to develop ship repair market in Brazil, and will manage the green ship repair facility for BBDC.
BBDC, formed by McQuilling and Promon Engenharia, is to manage the design, construction and operation of an industrial facility that will drydock and repair seagoing merchant vessels. The facility was named as Empresa de Docagens Pedra do Ingá (EDPI), which will be developed into a modern large-scale ship repair yard in the northeast Brazil.
According to the Protocol of Intention signed by McQuilling on behalf of BBDC, the government of the state of ParaÃba, Brazil, and IMC-Yongyue Shipyard, IMC-Yongyue Shipyard will operate the EDPI facility and employ the same green ship repair principles implemented in its Zhoushan shipyard.
Zhoushan IMC-Yongyue Shipyard is a Sino-foreign ship repair and engineering enterprise invested in by IMC Pan Asia Alliance Group, Zhejiang Yongyue Shipping Group, and Zhejiang Haizhongzhou Group.
