This is the trade defined by the region from Japan as far south as the Indian subcontinent, APL ceo Nicolas Sartini told Seatrade Maritime News.
"For example we are seeing double digit growth in Karachi and we directly link this to the impact of the Belt & Road policy," he revealed.
"What we will continue to do with APL is to develop Intra-Asia and leveraging on the other companies in the CMA CGM Group, we put in efforts into this," Sartini said, adding that "we clearly see this is not only the largest market in the world but will continue to be so and we want to be a major player in this market and we will be reinforcing our presence".
While remaining coy on specifics, Sartini said APL would be revealing some new initiatives in the Intra-Asia segment "in the coming months".
"We see it as a clear area of focus and we want to be a major player," Sartini concluded, adding that he sees between 5% to 10% growth.
