Bank Mandiri's Cargolink payment system for Koja Container Terminal

Bank Mandiri's Cargolink payment system for Koja Container Terminal
Indonesia's Koja Container Terminal is moving one step closer to more efficient operations with the development of a new electronic payment system for customs-related fees.

According to local media reports, Bank Mandiri has signed cooperation deal with PT Electronic Data Interchange Indonesia to develop the Cargolink system, an online-based transaction system which will allow companies which hold Bank Mandiri accounts to pay fees such as export-import duties, handling fees and insurance fees electronically.

"We hope it will accelerate transactions as well as (be) more efficient for companies in managing their financials, also to ease transaction payments to the Koja container terminal," Bank Mandiri's commercial and business banking director Sunarso was quoted as saying.

The Cargolink system will be integrated with Bank Mandiri's cash management services, thereby allowing Koja container terminal to receive payments in real time. The bank hopes to bring onboard 102 companies that frequently use the Koja container terminal.
