CIMC Raffles wins deal to build drilling rig and drillship

CIMC Raffles wins deal to build drilling rig and drillship
Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore has won orders to build one ice-class semi-submersible drilling rig and one multi-purpose drillship.

The harsh environment ice-class semi-submersible drilling rig, to be built for Beacon Holdings Group, will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2016. The contract comes with an option to build a similar unit.

The drilling rig, named Beacon Atlantic, will be able to operate at water depth up to 500 metres and drill wells down to 8,000 metres, according to CIMC Raffles.

The multi-purpose drillship to be built for Norshore Holdings is scheduled to be delivered in the second half of 2016. The deal also comes with options to construct up to another three similar drillships.

The drillship is a small-sized, multipurpose drillship designed for riserless drilling and well intervention operations globally, including the North Sea.

On Monday, CIMC Raffles bagged an order from Central Shipping Monaco (CSM) to build two jack-up drilling rigs, slated to be delivered at the end of 2015.
