Fujian collision death toll still to be confirmed
Shanghai: Two general cargo vessels have collided in the Minjiang River estuary in the Fujian province, China, resulting in at least one death.

The two vessels, the Fuhang 89 and the Yongdesheng 168, collided in the early hours of Wednesday morning. While all five crewmen of Fuhang 89 and three of Yongdesheng 168 were rescued, one was confirmed dead at 10-00hrs local time, according to a statement by the Fujian province maritime rescue centre.

Attempts are still being made to ascertain the number of crew aboard Yongdesheng 168. The total death toll is yet to be confirmed. Rescue ships and helicopters remain at the site with the cause of the accident yet to be established.
