Head of discipline at CSIC under investigation for corruption

Head of discipline at CSIC under investigation for corruption
The head of discipline inspection group at China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) is being investigated for alleged corrupt practices, according to China’s State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC).

SASAC published a brief statement on its website that Liu Changhong has been called in by the authorities to help with investigation over “serious violations of discipline”, a phrase used by Chinese authorities to mean corruption.

Liu joined CSIC in 2011, and was previously a deputy director of SASAC.

An ongoing nationwide anti-corruption crusade led by Chinese president Xi Jinping has implicated several senior officials in state-owned enterprises including shipbuilding and shipping firms.

Back in 2015, China’s anti-corruption inspection team opened its probe into CSIC on corrupt practices.
