“We are still in negotiations (with 2M) to iron out differences," an official at HMM was quoted as saying by the Korean Herald. "Our plan to complete the partnership talks by this month has not changed."
A report by JOC said that HMM had failed to join the alliance and was looking at slot share arrangement with 2M’s members Maersk Line and MSC instead.
Joining a major global alliance is part of the conditions of HMM’s normalization procedures having narrowly avoided insolvency earlier this year.
HMM had originally been expected to join new grouping The Alliance comprising - Hanjin Shipping, Hapag Lloyd, K Line, MOL, NYK and Yang Ming – however, it revealed in June it was in talks to join 2M.
