Hoe Eng Hock, managing director of Keppel Singmarine, said the partnership would “allow us to incorporate GTT's innovative solutions in designing and building of LNG carriers for the LNG market”.
"With an established track record of delivering some 400 specialised vessels, we understand the need of the market for quality and safe solutions, and we are confident our partnership with GTT will help us meet this market requirement."
The agreement will put Keppel ahead in the running to serve regional demand for construction of LNG carriers and bunkering vessels, which are expected to be in major demand following Singapore’s energy diversification strategy and plans to become an LNG bunkering and distribution hub, as well as UASC’s massive order for 10 14,000 and 18,000 teu LNG-powered boxships, and the first LNG-powered tug which set sail last week.
"This agreement will enable Keppel Singmarine to propose GTT solutions in the design and construction of LNG carriers and is a major landmark in the long and successful partnership of GTT with Singapore,” said GTT ceo Philippe Berterottière.
