Nam Cheong, Malaysia's largest offshore support vessel (OSV) builder, has sold one 12,000 bhp anchor handling towing supply (AHTS) vessel to an emerging offshore marine services company based in Indonesia.
The shipyard also inked another sale of four platform supply vessels (PSVs) to an existing customer involved in oilfield services based in Asia.
“We are glad to be securing a new customer in Indonesia and expanding our customer base,” said Leong Seng Keat, executive director of Nam Cheong. “The country is expected to lead the region on offshore oil and gas expenditure, so we are optimistic about exciting prospects developing on the Indonesian front.”
The five vessels currently being constructed are expected to be delivered between the second quarter of 2013 and the first quarter of 2014.
Nam Cheong's orderbook reaches MYR1.7bn ($566.7m) with this latest win.
Meanwhile, the Singapore-listed company improved its first quarter results ended 31 March 2013. Net profit rose 55% year-on-year to MYR42.36m and revenue increased 14% to MYR234.73m.
