NWA and CMA CGM launch new transpacific service

Tokyo: The New World Alliance (consisting of MOL, APL, HMM) and CMA CGM have signed a cooperation agreement to launch a new weekly service, The Fuji service, linking Japan and the US West Coast :

The service will deploy four vessels of 2800-3500teu and offer a direct connection between Osaka, Kobe, Nagoya, Shimizu and Tokyo in Japan to Los Angeles on the US West Coast.

"This new development offers CMA CGM customers optimum coverage of the Japanese market, with five calls eastbound," says Jean-Philippe Thenoz, CMA CGM vp for North America Lines. "It comes after the opening of our new agency - CMA CGM (JAPAN) K.K, and symbolizes the Group's commitment to developing its activities in the archipelago." [05/06/08]
