NYK Stolt Shipholdings orders two parcel tankers

NYK Stolt Shipholdings orders two parcel tankers
NYK Stolt Shipholdings has ordered a pair of 12,500 dwt parcel tankers at Japanese yard Usuki Shipyard.

The versatile chemical tankers, which are able to transport various types of cargoes at the same time, are due to be delivered from the shipyard in July 2016 and September 2016 respectively.

The two parcel tankers will be chartered to Stolt NYK Asia Pacific Services Inc, a joint venture company between NYK and Stolt Tankers.

NYK Stolt Shipholdings is also a joint venture company by Japan’s NYK and Stolt Tankers, the tanker division of Norway’s Stolt-Nielsen.

NYK and Stolt Tankers have also developed a parcel tanker company within the deepsea trade, and currently operate six parcel tankers with capacity ranging from 22,000 dwt to 39,000 dwt, under the name of NYK Stolt Tankers.

NYK said it will “maintain a competitive fleet with joint venture partner Stolt Tankers in growing chemical market by operating parcel tankers which complex, high-quality operations are needed.”
