OSV prices on the rise

OSV prices on the rise
London: Newbuilding and secondhand prices of offshore support vessels (OSVs) have climbed in the first quarter of this year, according to data from shipbroker Clarksons.

Prices for new anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels and platform supply vessels (PSVs) rose in the first three months, while a greater value for larger PSVs lifted the overall secondhand prices of OSVs.

Clarksons figures show OSV newbuildings at 2% higher at the end of the quarter while secondhand prices are up 5%, compared to the last quarter of 2011.

The price of a new high-specification AHTS vessel with 240 tbp is tagged at $92.5m, up from $91m at the end of 2011. A new large PSV of 4,000 dwt is just over $1m more expensive at $48m.

Five-year old AHTS of 200 tbp is priced at $57.5m at the end of March up just 1% quarter-on-quarter, while the cost of a five-year 4,000 dwt PSV rose 6% to $35m.
