Port of Hamburg celebrates relationship with Hong Kong
Hong Kong has always played an important role for Hamburg and the two cities have had trading relations since the early 19th century and many trading companies from the German port city maintain offices in the city to maintain their traditional role as a bridging and trading hub.

Speaking at the traditional Port of Hamburg cocktail function in Hong Kong last week, Dieter Lamlé German consul-general to Hong Kong noted that China is Hamburg's most important trading partner by a long shot, with some 2.6m teu moving between them last year, and Hong Kong had a significant part to play in this.

The connection between the two ports was also highlighted by ceo Axel Mattern, who welcomed guests to the event and thanked them for sharing in their mutual cooperation.
