Box volumes in May were recorded at 2.83m teu, an increase of 1.4% compared to 2.79m teu in the same month of 2012, MPA figures showed.
Last month's throughput also improved by 7.6% compared to 2.63m teu registered in April 2013.
In the first five months of this year, Singapore handled a total throughput of 13.09m teu, up 1.2% from 12.93m teu moved in the corresponding period of 2012.
