Zeaborn orders 10 multi-purpose vessels at Chinese yard
Germany's Zeaborn GmbH & Co has placed an order to build 10 multi-purpose vessels at China's Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering Co.

The newbuildings are scheduled to be delivered in three-month intervals from the fourth quarter of 2015.

The 12,500-dwt heavy-lift cargo will be equipped with two tower slewing cranes, each having a lifting capacity of 250 tonnes. At a cruising speed of 15.1 knots, the vessels are expected to consume 15.9 metric tonnes of fuel per day.

Zeaborn and the shipyard have agreed not to disclose the purchase prices.

“At Zeaborn, our focus is on the attractive niche market of the heavy-cargo segment within the shipping industry,” said co-founders and managing partners Jan-Hendrik Tobbe and Ove Meyer jointly in a statement.

“Our aim is to establish a market relevant fleet, reaching critical mass in terms of size via our newbuild programmes, suitable existing vessels as well as chartered MPP vessels. We see ourselves as an integrated shipping company that is also open to strategic partnerships and acquisitions.”
