ZIM is launching a second express service from China to Australia by splitting the existing China Australia Express (CAX) into two loops.

The current CAX service will change to offer a 12-day transit time from Shanghai to Sydney, with the new rotation as Xiamen, Ningbo, Shanghai, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The second China-Australia service, C2A, will offer a 11-day transit time from Yantian to Sydney, with port rotation as Laem Chabang, Ho Chi Minh, Nansha, Yantian, Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. The C2A will commence operation on 4 December.

The service will deploy six 2,500-teu container vessels with refrigerated cargo. ZIM said the fleet will be fitted with the ZIMonitor system for constant monitoring to prevent damages.

Eli Glickman, ZIM’s president and ceo, said: “We are responding to market demands by rolling out the second loop of our Australia express service in record time. I am sure this restructured service will provide a solution for our customers’ growing needs in this trade. We see great opportunity in the Australian trade and believe our unique ‘Z Factor’ and innovative yet personal approach will be appreciated and valued by customers in this market.”
