Three lines to launch new East Africa service
Dar es Salaam: Container lines Evergreen Line, Hanjin Shipping and Simatech Shipping will launch a new East Africa service from 26 March.

The new AF1 (East Africa Express for Hanjin Shipping, IDEA for Evergreen and Simatech) will cover Kenya and Tanzania on a weekly basis with four of 2,500 teu boxships.

The port rotation will be Mundra, Karachi, Jebel Ali, Mombasa and Dar es Salaam.

According to the partner carriers, Kenya and Tanzania have recorded steady increase of 6-7% in GDP over the past five years. In accordance with such economic growth, the trade from Asia, the Middle East and IPBC to East African regions has been experiencing significant upturn in recent years.

They comment that the introduction of this new service will satisfy the customer needs growing in the trade.

Meanwhile, Evergreen, Hanjin Shipping and Simatech added that they will work closely together to enhance their service network and market presence in the region.
