Hamburg-headquartered SAL Heavy Lift has exercised an option for a new ultra-efficient heavy-left vessel at China’s Wuhu Shipyard.
The new deal brings the total number of this new generation fleet of ultra-efficient heavy-lift vessels, the Orca Class, on order up to five at Wuhu Shipyard which is scheduled for delivery in mid-2025.
The 14,600dwt Orca Class heavy-lift vessels are equipped with two electric cranes of 800 mt lifting capacity, Ice-class A1 with dual-fuel methanol ready engine and ship-to-shore power connection, featuring low emissions, greener and more sustainable performance.
SAL expects the five new buildings to promote sustainability and emission reduction in the maritime industry.
