The 15,000-teu CMA CGM Argentina became the largest container ship to call at the Port of Miami earlier this week.

The vessel is one of a series of five ships bearing the names of Latin American countries, including Chile, Brazil, Mexico and Panama, in addition to Argentina.

The arrival of the CMA CGM Argentina was celebrated by Port of Miami via its twitter account. "Today PortMiami set a new record with the largest container ship ever to call a Florida port with the arrival of the CMA CGM Argentina," the port said.

The ship, like its four sister ships, is 366 metres-long and has a capacity of 15,072 teu. In September last year, the CMA CGM Brazil set the record as the largest container ship to be received at a Canadian port upon its arrival at the Halifax port precinct, which it repeated in New York/New Jersey.
