Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) is commissioning the trial operation of the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell powered mobile crane.

The manufacturer explained hydrogen fuel cell powered mobile crane, independently developed by ZPMC, is the worlds first successful application of hydrogen fuel cell hybrid power system for mobile crane, filling the gap in the application of hydrogen energy battery in port machinery industry, realizing net-zero emissions of CO2 of the equipment and contributing to build green port machinery equipment.

The equipment provides electricity for the whole machine by hydrogenation, and only discharges purified water during the whole process.

Compared with the traditional mobile crane with high-power diesel generators, the annual average carbon dioxide emission of this equipment can be reduced by more than 300 tons based on the annual average of 120,000 teu.

To meet the demand for energy saving and emission reduction of domestic and foreign ports, ZPMC continuously increases research and development of green and energy-saving products, based on the market expansion trend of fuel cell vehicles, develops fuel cell application system applicable for port machinery equipment.
