The Aframax tanker pair is independently developed by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding; measuring in 249.95 metres long and 44 metres wide, the ships will be able to load 800,000 barrels of oil products or crude oil products, meeting all the requirements of EEDI phase III and Tier III.
TCC and Waigaoqiao created their initial partner relationship in 1999 for the building of one plus one 175,000dwt bulk carriers, which is the first shipbuilding contract TCC had inked since its establishment.
Earlier in April, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding delivered its 50th Aframax tanker. With the addition of new order from TCC, Waigaoqiao has secured thirteen Aframax tanker orders this year, accounting for around 50% of this type of vessel in global market.
