Zeronorth will acquire and integrate Euronav’s Fleet Automatic Statistics and Tracking (FAST) into its online platform.

The FAST system is deployed across the Euronav fleet, collecting real time, high frequency data for use in ship reporting and voyage optimisation. The system has reduced fuel consumption and lowered operating expenses while increasing shore to ship collaboration and optimising fleet utlisiation, the companies said.

The acquisition is the latest step in ZeroNorth’s expansion strategy, which has included buying up multiple companies in the bunkering technology space and IoT specialist Alpha Ori,  as well as partnering with Vitol, Sedna, the Global Maritime Forum and Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping.

ZeroNorth said it plans to integrate FAST data and functionality into its platform to drive its data flywheel and maximise the company’s market impact. Euronav will also become a customer of ZeroNorth’s full platform under the acquisition deal.

Pelle Sommansson, Chief Growth Officer & EVP, ZeroNorth, said: “"High-frequency data is the solution to many industry challenges. Optimised journeys play a major role in achieving zero emissions in our industry. That’s why we are proud to work with like-minded leaders at Euronav, because together we can change the way that our customers, and shipping as a whole, operate for the better.”

Patrick Declerck, Operations Manager, Euronav, said: "Euronav has a clear ambition to be a leader in sustainability and efficiency. We are proud to partner with ZeroNorth, which is already making a significant impact on enabling green global trade.

"Together, we are leading brands focused on creating a better world. We believe this new partnership will enable us to drive the journey to zero emissions across the shipping industry to decarbonise today and navigate tomorrow. This will make more parties aware of the transformative impact data can have on their operations.”
