Purus Marine orders ammonia-ready gas carriers

Purus Marine has ordered four ammonia-ready gas carriers from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD).

The shipowner has contracted four 45,000 cu m gas carriers with options for two more from the South Korean yard. The four firm vessels are expected to be delivered in 2025 and 2026, financial details of the contract were not disclosed.

The newbuildings will be ammonia-ready dual fuel and fitted with shaft generators and scrubbers

The new gas carriers are expected to primarily carry ammonia.
