Heidmar said that La Monte had passed away unexpectedly while on a business flight from the US to Europe on 14 October.
Paying tribute to La Monte the company said: “Marc was a widely respected member of the international shipping industry for twenty-seven years.”
La Monte took up the helm at Heidmar in April 2012 have previously been managing director of its Seawolf Tankers VLCC pool.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
